Jellied legs from their Europa League exploits will hit both teams hard this weekend, although Brighton may be feeling the effects to a greater degree given their taxing journey home from Marseille, while Liverpool were able to rest a few more big names on their own turf.

Goals have been a guarantee whenever these two sides have stepped out onto the field this term, but while Brighton subjected Liverpool to two Amex beatings earlier in 2023, the hosts' severe defensive deficiencies should see the Reds exact revenge.

Porto begin the weekend third in the Primeira League and host Portimonense who are in 11th position. The home side are three points behind leaders Sporting and lost their most recent league fixture.

Portimonense have eight points from their seven games. Only nine goals have been scored by them in those matches but 17 conceded

Sporting Lisbon will be hoping to maintain their positive start to the season when they take on Arouca in the Primeira Liga on Sunday. The hosts currently lead the league standings with 19 points, while the visitors are in 13th place with six points.

After finishing in the Conference League qualification places last term, Arouca have struggled to find the same type of form this season. They lost their last match 2-0 at home to Chaves, which was their third defeat in their last four league matches. 

Villarreal B will look to move away from the relegation zone but face a tough home game against leaders Espanyol in Spanish Segunda Division. This match will be played at the Ciudad Deportiva stadium in Villarreal with the hosts 14th with ten points and the visitors top of the table with 20 points.

Espanyol are leading by a point from their next two closest competitors, which means dropping points here is going to be a tricky proposition. The visitors are coming off a 2-0 win over Cartagena that made it consecutive wins for Espanyol in the league.

These sides have experienced contrasting starts to the 2023-23 league campaign.  The hosts are currently second bottom, while the visitors are behind only Real Madrid in the league standings. 

The host have managed just five points in eight matches and are just two points above Almeria at the foot of the table.

Meanwhile, it has been business as usual for Barcelona, who are just one point behind rivals Real Madrid in the league. They come into this match off the back of a 1-0 over Porto in the Champions League, which extended their record to ten matches unbeaten in all competitions this season.
